Identification and mitigation of non-line-of-sight path effect using repeater forhybrid ultra-wideband positioning and networking system

At least two decades ago, various applications have been proposed for the implementation of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, but only a few them are being realised such as radar detection, home networking, and indoor positioning. Although UWB positioning offers precise locality tracking, accuracy estimation is greatly affected by non-line-of-sight (NLOS) path effect. In this paper, we propose hybrid networking system that utilises existing repeater data network to eliminate NLOS paths. A switching algorithm written identify existence paths based on received signal strength (RSS) unique channel characteristics mean excess delay (MED) root square (RMS). From simulation results, successfully identified under environment. Hence, higher probability across entire tested area can be achieved mitigating effect using algorithm. Besides that, transmission line-of-sight (LOS) attains rate around 15 times than at bit-error-rate (BER) 10$^{-5}$ in system. case, minimum-bit-error-rate (MBER) receiver again shown outperform minimum-mean-square error (MMSE) performance gain drops 5 dB 6 BER when repeaters increase maximum number 10 units. conclusion, method capable both systems.
